I feel that I am one of the most happy person in the world
now… ;) Can u believe it? I meet Aaron Kwok up close and personal today at Kuala
Lumpur International Airport
(KLIA). Well, let me start at the beginning, where everything started…
Chapter 1: Blessing in Disguise
(Just some (not very) brief background…) During summer
vacation in US, I knew I was going to come back Malaysia
for a short holiday break. Being the procrastinating self that I am, I didn’t ask
my dad to buy air ticket from KUL-EWR (USA) till like late June. By that time, Singapore
airlines, my favorite airline was already fully booked. Then, the only ticket I
could get was EVA air, flying on Sept 2nd. I tried so hard to get on
Singapore air instead
because my boyfriend was flying on Aug 26th… but the prospect of
flying back together was really gleam… I was kind of depressed.
Then,
around mid-July, I found out that Aaron is coming to Malaysia
on Aug 30th for the Para-Para event… with this news in hand, I was
sooooo excited! The whole world around me turned bright, cos this blessing in
disguise gave me a chance to see Aaron!! It gave a totally special and unique
meaning for me come back Malaysia,
knowing that Aaron would be visiting... (of cos I am not saying if Aaron didn’t
come, there would be no meaning of me coming back… hahhaaha ;) but I felt like
I won first prize!! I have something special 2 look 4ward to…
Chapter 2: An Ingenious Plan
(24th
Aug 2001)
I was anticipating for Aaron’s arrival everyday… counting
down the days… ;) I kept thinking… if I went to the airport, I would only be
able to see him when he comes out of the arrival hall… (unlike US, you can’t go
directly to the gate to meet up anyone, cos you can’t even enter the terminal
if you don’t have a boarding pass that would fly u somewhere)…
On my boat
trip to Redang Island,
I was thinking about the day that Aaron would come… I was thinking… how I
wished I could go into the Terminal to catch him when he steps out of the
plane. As the wind was blowing while I was riding waves on the speed boat,
something strike my mind!!! I had 2 boarding passes actually!!! But it was for
a trip from NY to San Francisco
after I go back to US! I could try to use it I thought… my brain was working
like crazy, thinking about possibilities and IFs… Hey! If I could bluff my way
through the guards in front of the checkpoint to the terminal, I would be able
to see Aaron at the gate!!! I was excited… I couldn’t help smiling at myself,
and couldn’t wait to tell Seok Wun my idea… Though I knew that it might not
work out in the end, but I couldn’t help but think positive and be excited
about what might be a miracle…
Chapter 4: THE DAY!!! (30th Aug 2001)
Meet Seok Wun for the first time in Mid-Valley… Ran around
like crazy to look for the exactly same pink blouse that the fans bought…
(wasted a lot of energy here :p) Then went to my aunt’s place to borrow her
digital video cam… hahahah there’s another story here with Seok Wun…
5+
pm… heard from another fan that AK’s flight is delayed… Arriving
only around 9pm instead of 7:20pm because of bad weather in HK… Seok Wun
drove to KLIA… By the time we reach the airport, I was tired, hungry, a little
nervous, worried, excited, etc… worse is I felt like I had migraine cos I was
so hungry and tired. Felt like I could pass out anytime… I guess it’s the extra
pressure hoping to see Aaron affecting me… Eating McDonalds helped a lot when
we were at the departure hall. At that time, we surveyed the checking officer
on duty (there’s 2 stands to get your boarding pass checked). A woman officer
that we saw looked really serious in checking the boarding pass… I panicked…
all the negative WHAT IFs seemed 2 come true… But we still decided to go ahead
and take this risk… worst comes to worst, we have to wait at the arrival hall
like everyone.
Chapter 5: Conquering our obstacles…
About 7:50pm, me
and Seok Wun were ready to give our best acting to act like any other
legitimate travelers We pick up our guts and walked straight to the checking
officer (not the woman, but another man who was at another checkpoint)… Its now
or never I thought… cross my fingers and pray for a miracle. I walked in front,
with Seok Wun tagging behind… we both were really scared… cos my boarding pass
is an America West Airlines boarding pass… and there’s no AWA at all in
Malaysia… If the officer is smart enough he should know, cos it’s really
obvious. To our dismay, he examined the boarding pass like looking at a diamond
to see if it was real or fake! My heart was beating so fast and I was saying to
myself… die lar… WHAT IF… I think he examined it so hard trying to figure out
why is this boarding pass is soooo different from what he used to see… (Thanks
Seok Wun for advising me not to paste the Singapore Airlines boarding pass stub
on my AWA boarding pass, I think u saved us there ;)) Thanks a million… heheheh
luckily I was not stubborn :p). After sometime, he asked: any boarding pass
kah? (Malay: is this a boarding pass)… nak pergi mana (where r u going (flying
to))… The questions were the most dreaded questions… How can I answer??? I was
so afraid that I mumbled in a soft voice that: Any boarding pass (This is a
boarding pass)… but I couldn’t say where I was flying to… I was thinking… Oh my
God… HELP!!! Then I think by this point, he gave up… hahahaha I guess he didn’t
care if it was a real diamond or not… he gave up… then he made a signal that I
could pass… Seok Wun was right behind me, showing the same weird boarding pass…
heheheheh this time, he didn’t ask anything, just took a glance, seeing it’s
the same as mine, and then let us pass… :p (hehehehe Victory!!!) Now, I am
suddenly wondering, is he by any chance wondering, why in the world some plane
is called America West Airlines carrying only 2 passengers!!! Kekkeeke …
hahahaha let’s just let him be bewildered… At the same time now, I am wondering
if we would have this luck if we were to go to the strict woman at another
checkpoint??? Anyway, after we got through, I and Seok Wun were elated… I felt
like jumping up and down in excitation… (I think I did a little jumping… hahaha
just a little…)… Seok Wun grabbing me as we went down the escalator… hahahah I
told her calm down, but I wasn’t really calm myself… ;) One down, next to go!!!
Chapter 6: In the terminal!!!
The next thing I was worried was that we cannot cross the
immigration. I am afraid of both going in and coming out. Kept our fingers
crossed again… Both our passports are the new passports with a barcode in it,
which the passport computer machine can scan…
Surprisingly we passed easily again… ;) hahhahaa Now I was
thinking, no matter what, we r going to see Aaron!!! I and Seok Wun were too
happy for words…
But there
was one more thing we were not sure… Is the arrival and departure terminal the
same???!!! I kind of knew that it was the same, but at this point, I was so
scared something would go wrong… hahahha WHAT IF they suddenly built another
terminal :p … So we asked one of the info counter. Heheheheh luckily it is
confirmed to be the SAME!!!
Next mission, find out which gate is
Aaron arriving at. So I and Seok Wun made up a story that we wanted to meet a
friend who is arriving by China Airlines CI 615… (Actually the storyline was
not really needed… hehehehe) The airport people very willingly gave out the
gate number. C33… heheheh the Golden gate number! ;))) J
.At the same time, asked what time it is arriving: 9:05pm.
By the
time, it was around 8:20pm… we
hurried to take the aerotrain. At the terminal, we reconfirmed the gate number
and arrival time… hahahah we kia su (scared to lose) ma… The arrival time was
now announced as 9:20pm.
We walked to get C33, excited, full of
anticipation…
Chapter 8: The 3 men…
Suddenly, when we were worrying like hell, 3 men approached…
They wore yellow badges around their neck… By then, we knew that they must be Aaron’s
bodyguards. Hahahah we are at the right place! Yippee… and Aaron will be
reaching any minute… can’t help but feel my heart beating faster and faster…
(it was beating very fast also before that!) At first we looked like some girls
waiting to catch our plane… but I had a video cam around my neck, and worse is
Seok Wun is wearing our pink blouse… So striking. Then I saw one of the guys
looking at us more intently, and started talking about us… (I could feel they
were talking about us but I didn’t hear anything yet) Then one guy was using
his eyes to point to another, saying that the PINK… Para
Para… must be AK’s fan!! But I think they must be
surprised to see AK fan waiting at the gate!!! At first we tried to not look
too obvious an AK fan… hahahah but the pink and the video cam was just too
much…
So in the
end, me and Seok Wun started to debate to tell them who we are and if we can
take video and picture with Aaron. Seok Wun asked something like… Dang Aaron
hai mum hai (Are u also waiting for AK)… then they asked: Tim kai lei dei zhi
ge?? (how come you all know?), lei dei tim yap lei? (How you all come in the
terminal?)… we just bluff them that we took another plane and waited here for
Aaron. Then we asked the most important questions, hoping to get YES answers…
hahahha (in my dreams rite?) … We asked: ho mum ho yi tong Aaron ying xiong??
(Can we take picture/video of Aaron?) Qin meng le? (autograph?)… every answer
was NO… L But the bodyguards put it in a nice way (only one of
them was kind of annoying later)… I understand it’s their job to protect Aaron.
But we are fans rite?? Heheehehe we expect a lot :p…
Chapter 9: At last… the Golden Moments… Unforgettable
Around 9:30pm, we
saw CI 651 docking. My heart was beating really fast… We stood afar (about 100
feet away from the gate). Soon, the first class passengers were coming out.
Aaron would soon be out too…
Then Seok
Wun & I were nudging each other. We saw AK! He was talking on his Nokia
cell phone, wearing a black jacket, and the long pants like the one in the
‘Para-Para Kung fu dance’ (grey with 3 stripes… is it Addidas?)… He also had
his LV sling bag on his shoulder.
But later, someone helped him carry it instead. He looked as gorgeous as ever.
Even better in real life. I was taping everything on digital video cam, but my
hand was shaking. Then I stopped after awhile, to not annoy AK as he was
approaching closer and closer. Freddie, Siu Mei, and other some other people
accompanied him. He talked on his cell phone for quite a while. I was wondering
if he was talking to Norika??? At times, he covered his mouth when he was
talking, like he didn’t want people to hear what he was saying… Later, we found
out from Seok Wun’s friend that he was actually talking live on a radio
program, FM98.8. My… he really have to work all the time. Even once he land!!
Poor Aaron.
We kept
following him… I wonder what he was thinking. He knew we were his fans, but he
tried to pretend not see us. His people were all around him, so it was
difficult and awkward to approach him. The group went on the auto walkway,
while we walked beside the walkway, turning back constantly looking at AK. Seok
Wun and I were holding hands real tightly, squeezing each other, because we
were so excited.
Soon, we
were approaching the aerotrain. I told Seok Wun, that we should get his
autograph maybe on the train. We rode in the same compartment as AK and his
troupe. Even though his bodyguards tried to hint us to go away. By this time,
he had already finished his phone interview and wasn’t talking on the phone
anymore.
Someone (I
think it was AK… I don’t remember too well) took out a wu2 yin4 liang2 bing3 (a
Taiwanese brand) ‘hot dog’ snack (long pinkish snack). AK took a piece and
started nibbling while joking around with his people. I was too immersed with
him, which I didn’t catch a word he said. Also, it wasn’t very audible though
we were quite close by. He seemed to be in a very good mood, joking and making
faces. Seok Wun said that he purposely made those funny faces for us. Heehhehe
Really cute! Ha-ha… he never grows up, that’s what I like about him. Young
forever at heart personality.
Unfortunately,
we couldn’t get an autograph from him in the aerotrain.
Chapter 10: The autograph…
Soon, we came to the immigration counters. Seok Wun and I hurriedly
rushed to the auto passport counter to cross immigration. We were so worried
that AK would go over the immigration faster than us!! Hahahha… we were so
panicked then. Luckily, we got through fairly easily. (So much for worrying so
much earlier. Hahaha) By the time we were on the other side of the immigration
counters, AK was still clearing immigration with one of the custom officers.
From the other side, we saw him… couldn’t take my eyes off him still. Most of
his crew were still behind him. Only the three Malaysian bodyguards were over
on our side.
Soon after,
he crossed immigration, something unexpected happen. As he was walking towards
us, he held his hand out to us, urging us to come forward! He wants to help us
autograph his album!!! Getting his hint, I was sooooo happy!!! I and Seok Wun
quickly went up to him. I handed him my xin tian di album. He signed love
(heart shape) guo fu chen (his usual Chinese signature). Then he took Seok
Wun’s and signed too… We asked him if we could take pictures with him. He only
shook his head in return. L At first, I felt so
disappointed… But then, what else do I want? I’ve already got his autograph. I
should be contented. It has not been easy!
As he was
walking to the baggage claim area, I said ‘Aaron, tuo cheh ah’ (Thank you). He
kept on walking and didn’t have any reaction. But I guess he heard. I was so
happy and relieved inside because I knew if I didn’t get his autograph today, I
won’t be getting it on his autograph session on Sept 2nd in KL,
because I’d be flying to the US on that day. (Days before, I was praying that
he was flying to Singapore around the same time in the afternoon as I am… but I
found later that he was only leaving KL to Singapore around 8pm. Felt so sad
then……..)
Soon, we
came to the baggage claim area. Aaron sat down on a bench, while his people
waited to collect their bags. We stood at a side for quite some time looking at
AK.
There was this one woman who approached Aaron and asked him
for an autograph. (She didn’t have his album though), but then he waved his
hand to say no. I know it must be disappointing for that woman, but I don’t
think she really was a fan. Just hope that she don’t think that Aaron is
arrogant not to give out his autograph. Well, you have to earn it right? Look what
we went thru gal! :p
Later, Seok Wun step up to tell
him: “Aaron lei ge xan tip hou zheng” (Aaron your new album is awesome). AK:
“hai meh??” (Really?) AK: “Ngo ge yin cheong hui zhong zheng” (My concert is
even better!) Seok Wun: “Ngo mai zho leong zheong fei lar” (I bought two
tickets already!) AK: “Gam xiu??” (so little?!)…
I however
didn’t have the guts to say anything to him, though I had lots to ask him.
Partly because my Cantonese is not very good, esp. when speaking. And I speak
really soft, so AK might not hear what I said. Also, at that time, my brains
were not functioning properly because of AK!!!
Anyway, we
were pretty contented with our adventure. So, we waited for AK further away, to
give him some privacy. Hahahahah … though I wished that we could keep talking
to him. We cleared the customs, having nothing to declare. Then we walked
towards the arrival hall where everyone was waiting. I kind of slowed down my
pace, cos I wanted AK and his crew to catch up…
Chapter 11: The arrival Hall
A lot of fans were outside… I couldn’t help but felt really
lucky about our special encounter. I quickly went to where all the fans were…
Soon, AK and his people were walking out. There were screams of “AARON”… as
Aaron came out, he waved his hands to his fans. Then his bodyguard ushered him
to leave the building. Then he said out loud to
all of us… “Wan teng kin, but kin but san…” (See u in Genting, won’t
leave without seeing u all!)… I think he said a little more , but I don’t
remember.
Soon, he
was out of the airport. There was a van waiting for him. A Toyota Estima, plate
number: WBH II… heheheh luckily I remembered the plates… cos it turned out to
be useful later!!! ;) Anyways, he waved in the car too. Then they were off to
Genting. (Seok Wun heard him asked a Genting personal in the terminal how long
the journey was from the airport to Genting. The woman replied 1 and ½ hours.
And AK nodded…).
